2020 BCFA Covid Requirements

COVID-19 Requirements

While the traditional Brazoria County Fair that we know and love was canceled, a modified schedule of events has been approved. The modified schedule was made possible by our board members, staff, and County partners for the youth of our County to exhibit, show and auction their projects.

Modified schedule includes the following: livestock show, ag mechanics, both queens contests, Little Mister and Miss contest, high school art contest, calf scramble, GCBRA, YRS shootout, county roping, ranch rodeo, 3 auctions and mutton bustin’. Limited attendance and COVID-19 guideline implementations will be upheld from September 26th to October 19th.

The following auctions will take place in the auditorium.
  • Art Auction – Sunday Oct. 11th – 2pm – In-person only
  • Commercial Heifer Auction – Saturday, Oct. 24th – 10am – In-person & online
  • Jr Livestock Auction – Saturday, Oct 24th - 3 p.m. In-person & online
  • Market Sale – Duration of the modified schedule. See www.BCFA.org or email bcfaauction@gmail.com

Due to COVID-19, the Fair Association had to have a plan approved by Brazoria County Officials to host a safe and successful event. As part of the approved plan, the livestock species will be separated and shows spread out to different dates, times, and areas. All other events and contests will follow suit. This allows us to maintain smaller groups and mitigate those in attendance. Each designated area will have a separate entry point and an interior entry to access other event areas; all entry points will have gatekeepers to monitor masks. Social distancing and wearing a facial mask (covering the nose and mouth) will be practiced.

Reminders to maintain good hand-washing hygiene and the use of hand sanitizer stations will be part of the Fair's COVID-19 mitigation plan.

Exhibitor Information

Under the approved plan, all participants and guests will be required to wear face coverings and practice social distancing while on the fairgrounds. Failure to wear the face covering or comply with COVID-19 guidelines will be grounds for dismissal from the fairgrounds.
  • A Family Wellness Self Evaluation Form must be completed and on file prior to entering the fairgrounds.
  • Individual check-in areas will be set up at each event area.
  • If tables are used, they are to be wiped down and sanitized every 15 minutes.
  • Workers (pre-trained Fair volunteers) will be given wipes and disinfecting solution that meets CDC guidelines.
  • Workers (pre-trained Fair volunteers) will wear face coverings at all times.

Exhibitor Check-in Process:

  • Exhibitors will always need to maintain social distancing including check-in.
  • Exhibitors will proceed to the event area and remain in their vehicle until they are ready to unload exhibit at that time.
  • The exhibitor, parent(s), sponsor(s), or assistant(s) will proceed to the designated check-in area.
  • Once the exhibit is in place, and all the appropriate check-in procedures are followed, we encourage exhibitors and parents to leave the fairgrounds and not linger or social gather.
  • • LIVESTOCK: Feeding of animals will be allowed from 6am - 10pm daily. All gates close at 10pm and no one will be allowed on the premises.
Attendees (GUESTS) - Parent, Sponsor, or Assistant:

To ensure a safe environment, all attendees and guests are expected to follow all COVID-19 guidelines, obtained from exhibitors or on this website. Failure to comply will be grounds for dismissal from the fairgrounds. All guests will be asked to complete a Family Wellness Self Evaluation Form prior to the entering the fairgrounds. Should they meet any of the following guidelines, they are invited not to attend the event:
  • Should a guest have been on a cruise or traveled internationally in the previous 14 days, they will not be allowed to participate in the event.
  • Should a guest have had close contact with anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 (in the prior 14 days) or is currently in close contact with someone who is showing signs of COVID-19, they will not be allowed to participate in the event.

  • Masks will be required before entry into the grounds or gate.

FFA Advisors and 4-H Leaders:

FFA Advisors and 4-H Leaders will receive complete access across the fairgrounds each day and will be asked to self-evaluate before coming to the event. When an FFA Advisor or 4-H Leader arrives on-site, they will need to enter Gate 2. They will be reminded to wash or sanitize their hands periodically or wear gloves when handling items for exhibitors or other works. Masks will always be required.
